How to rotate sideways pages in a PDF
By PDFEditor.ae · Published
Steps
- Open Rotate PDF and upload the file.
- Choose the angle: 90° clockwise, 180°, or 90° counter-clockwise.
- Enter the pages to rotate, such as 2-3, or leave the box empty to rotate every page.
- Click Rotate and download the result.
Viewing rotation is not saved rotation
Most PDF viewers have a "rotate view" button. It only changes your screen for that session; the recipient still sees the page sideways. Rotate PDF changes the page itself in a new file, so it opens the right way round for everyone. To test, close the viewer and reopen the downloaded file — an already-open window can remember its previous view.
Rotating only some pages
Documents often mix portrait pages with a few landscape tables or plans. Rotate only those pages so the reader can turn their screen once and read the whole page. Rotation is added to the page's current orientation, so a page already turned 90° and rotated again by 90° ends up upside down — check before rotating twice.
Page order stays the same
Rotating does not move pages. If a page is in the wrong place as well as the wrong way round, rotate it first, then use Reorder Pages.
Check the result
- Scroll through every page in a PDF viewer.
- Text on landscape pages reads from left to right when the screen is turned clockwise.
- Pages that were already correct did not change.
