ICP PDF upload requirements: how to prepare your files

By PDFEditor.ae · Published

Requirements depend on the service

You have filled in the application, chosen a document and reached the upload step — and the field asks for a different format or a smaller file. ICP directs users to the relevant service on its official website for procedures, documents and fees. Work from that service's guidance and the attachment field in front of you rather than assuming one rule covers every application.

Read the attachment field before converting

Note the accepted file types, the maximum size and the document label. Check whether the field expects one file, separate attachments or a particular kind of document. A request for a personal photograph is not a request for a PDF containing a photograph.

If the form accepts PDF, prepare a PDF. If it asks for an image, keep the allowed image format, and follow any dimensions or scanning instructions shown for that field.

One complete document per request

Match each file to its field: the passport copy goes in the passport field, and a supporting certificate goes in its own field when the form provides one. Combining everything into one PDF can make the file wrong for those separate requests.

Open each document before uploading. Confirm it belongs to the right applicant, includes every required page and is readable. Compare names and dates with the application — but never edit the source document to make them match.

Check the actual file size

Check the saved PDF's size in your device's file information. Page count is a poor guide: one detailed photograph can be larger than several pages of text.

For an ordinary PDF copy, try Compress PDF and check the output. If a scan is still too large, make a more efficient scan that stays readable. Keep issuer-supplied digital originals unchanged, and ask for guidance if one exceeds the field's limit.

Open Compress PDF

Confirm the upload completed

After selecting the file, look for the filename, a preview or a completion indicator, and check the attachment again at the review stage if there is one. Keep the submission confirmation with your final documents so you know exactly what was sent.

Is 2 MB the limit for every ICP attachment?

This guide does not set a universal limit. Use the limit shown in your current application, and do not carry over a limit from another service or an older manual.
