How to check a PDF after adding a signature

By PDFEditor.ae · Published

What kind of signature this is

Sign PDF places an image of your signature — drawn or typed — on the page. It is not a certificate-based digital signature and does not prove your identity. Many recipients accept it; some documents and organisations require a different method. When it matters, ask the recipient what they accept before you sign.

Checklist before sending

  • Every signature line is signed — check initials on each page if the document asks for them.
  • The signature sits on its line and does not cover printed text.
  • Dates next to signatures are filled in and correct.
  • Your name is spelled the same way everywhere.
  • The downloaded file shows the signature when opened in a different viewer.
  • You kept a copy of the signed version.

Fix and re-save

If something is wrong, open the original unsigned file, sign again and download a new copy rather than signing on top of a signed version.

Sending sensitive documents

If the signed document contains personal or financial details, protect it with a password and send the password separately.
