PDF privacy questions to ask before uploading

Questions to ask any PDF service
- Is the upload encrypted in transit (HTTPS)?
- How long are uploaded files and results kept, and can I delete them myself?
- Who can access a result — is it behind a login or available to anyone with the link?
- What is logged about each task?
- Which companies host or process the files?
- Does the service use files for anything besides the task, such as training?
Our answers
- Files are sent over HTTPS.
- Uploads and results are deleted automatically after 24 hours. Pro accounts keep a copy of each result in file history for 30 days, and you can delete files from your account at any time.
- Results are stored under a long random link. Anyone who has that link can download the file until it is deleted, so do not share the link — share the downloaded file.
- For each task we log the tool, whether it succeeded, the time taken, the file name and size, and your IP address, to run the free daily limit and fix errors. Analytics never receive file names or contents.
- The site runs on Vercel (web pages) and Render (processing); account data is stored with Turso.
Reduce what you upload
- Remove pages you do not need to process before uploading elsewhere.
- Use a file name without personal details.
- For highly sensitive documents, check your organisation's policy on online tools first.
