How to make an Emirates ID front and back PDF
By PDFEditor.ae · Published
Check the layout the recipient wants
When an organisation asks for both sides of your Emirates ID, one PDF is tidier than two loose photos — as long as they accept that format. Confirm whether they expect a two-page PDF, both sides on one page, or separate files, and follow the request rather than choosing a layout for looks.
Photograph each side clearly
Lay the card flat under soft light and hold your phone directly above it to avoid distortion. Photograph the front, turn the card over and photograph the back in the same conditions.
Check both images straight away for glare, blur and cut-off corners. Retake any photo where you would have to guess a name, date or number — conversion cannot restore detail the camera did not capture.
Prepare the images
Keep the original photos as backups. On working copies, trim excess background without clipping the card, and make sure both images are upright.
If the photos are not JPGs, convert them properly. Renaming a PNG or HEIC file to end in .jpg does not convert it. iPhone HEIC photos can go through HEIC to JPG first; PNG images can use PNG to PDF.
Create a two-page PDF
If the recipient wants both sides on a single page, a two-page conversion does not meet that request; use a layout method that places both images on one page.
- Open JPG to PDF.
- Add the front image first and the back image second.
- Convert and download — each image becomes one page.
- Open the PDF and check the actual page order.
Review before sharing
Confirm the PDF shows the right card, both requested sides and no unrelated photos, and that its size fits the recipient's instructions. A filename like emirates-id-copy.pdf is clearer than a camera name and keeps your ID number out of the filename.
Store the finished copy where you can find it, and avoid leaving duplicates in shared folders or public links.
Can I send only the front side?
Send the sides the recipient asked for. If the instruction says front and back, a front-only copy is incomplete.
